Automate the addition to a group based on participation to a survey

You can use an automated scenario to add your contacts to a group depending on the participation to your survey: whether they answered, didn't answer or depending on what they answered.

To do so, you'll first need to have access to the automated scenario module. This module is included in every paying plan. (basic, plus and pro). A free 30-day trial is included for this feature for free accounts, starting at the creation of your account. To learn how to change your plan, click here.

It's recommended to create and activate your scenario before sending out officially your survey. Otherwise, you'd lose some subscriptions to your group. Your scenario will only count the triggers that happened after activation.

To create your scenario:

  1. Go to the "Marketing automation" module.

  2. Click on "+ New scenario".

  3. Then, click the "Create my own scenario" button.

  4. Click on "Add a trigger" .

  5. Select the appropriate trigger. In this case, it would be "Answered question" or "Unanswered question".

  6. Complete the configuration of your trigger by following the steps on the screen.

  7. Click the "+" in the scenario and select "Add to a group". Select the appropriate group(s) in which you want your contacts to be added.

  8. Don't forget to save your scenario.

  9. Once you've completed the set up of your scenario and you're ready for it to start, schedule its activation. Click here to learn how to do it.

Pro tips:

If you wish to add your contacts to different groups based on their different answers, you'll need to create a different scenario for each possible answer in order to segment your contacts appropriately.

Here are a few examples of different scenarios you could create:

  • Add contacts to a group based on a specific answer;
  • Add to a group every contact who answered, regardless of the answer;
  • Add to a group all the contacts who didn't answer the survey.
