How to stop a mailing in progress

Here's how to stop a mailing in progress:

  1. Go to your "Dashboard".
     
  2. At the right of the problematic mailing, in the “Mailing in progress” box, click the "Stop mailing" button.


     
    Important ! Stopping a mailing is permanent. Once stopped, it will be impossible to resume delivery. You will have to schedule a new mailing. Also, emails delivered before the stop of  the mailing can't be retrieved.
  3. Click "Yes" to confirm.

Is it possible to get back delivered emails?

It's simply impossible to retrieve emails once delivery has started.

Q:  Even If they weren't opened?

Answer: Even if they weren't open, getting them back is unfortunately impossible.

We recommend that you send out an erratum to people who received the wrong version of your email, depending on the severity of the typo or mistake. You can simply send the correct version to the recipients who didn't receive the wrong version of your email, so that they'll never know a mistake was made.

How can I send an email to people who didn't receive my first email?

There are two ways to create a group with these contacts and then send them a new email. Contacts who did not receive this mailing are those in the “Stopped” statistics.

Recipients awaiting delivery of the email don't need to know you're human and make mistakes. It's preferable to only send them the right version and to only mention the mistake to customers who received the wrong version of your email.

Here is how to proceed based on the statistics of the mailing you stopped:

  1. Click the "Mailings" tab, then "Previous Mailings".

  2. Find the mailing you stopped in the available list and open the action menu by clicking the three dots on the right.
  3. Select "Statistics".


     
  4. Go to "Target groups" and select all groups or select the groups you wish to target.


     
  5. Click the "Add to group based on a statistic" button.


     
  6. Select "Stopped" in the "Statistic" drop-down menu.


     
  7. Choose the option "Add to a new group" and name your new group.


     
  8. Click "Ok" to confirm.
     
  9. Repeat the previous steps if needed for other mailing groups.
     
  10. All you have to do next is schedule your new mailing with the correction to your new group.

What should I do for recipients who got the mailing with an error?

Really, the action to take depends on the severity of the error. If the mistake is simply a typing mistake, it's sometimes better to just ignore it and not bring attention to it. If, however, it's a major mistake such as a wrong information or a broken link, you might want to quickly fix the error and send the correct information.

Pro tips: How to redact an erratum?

First, take a deep breath. Don't let stress and the feeling of emergency lead you to more mistakes. Take your time to proofread your email and make sure all typing errors and mistakes were fixed and test your email appropriately. If your problem was a broken link or due to personalization variable, make sure to test your correction by sending a complete mailing to a small test group. Learn more.

Make sure the subject line of your erratum differs from your first email. Getting two emails from the same person in fast succession could cause frustrations for some recipients. By clearly stating why you're sending a second email so fast, they may be more lenient.

Explain clearly what was the mistake and what is the correct information and apologize. Admitting a fault is half the way to being forgiven! Making mistakes only makes you human.     Your erratum is about something that can be fixed without having to modify your mailing?
     If, for example, the error was for an image missing that you've already replaced or a link that is now working again, you don't need to send an erratum to everyone who received your mailing. In these cases, it's better to target the people who already opened or clicked your email and send only your erratum to them. To do so, rather than select "Delivered", simply choose "Opened" or "Clicked" in the drop-down list.
